SCOLIS is an acronym for Secure Contactless Identification Solutions. SCOLIS is a start-up promoted by investors from the Smartcard and Financial Industry.
SCOLIS is focused on providing efficient and secure, and yet usable Identification solutions, based on contactless smartcard technology, for applications that need to meet critical performance criteria.

Contactless Smartcards are used in a wide variety of applications and some of these applications demand high performance by way of data throughput, error recovery and the flexibility to read/write a wide variety of contactless cards. Readers in e-passport applications and in Physical access to secure areas are typical examples of these.

SCOLIS is focused on working with leading solution providers in this marketplace, making available specialized products and services with a focus on Smartcard Technology. SCOLIS also provides design services in the domain of smartcard and secure technologies, based on its core competence in embedded technologies, ASIC Design and Product Design skills.

The SCOLIS management team is essentially from the smart card reader and security Industry. The core Technical team has more than 30 person years of experience in Smartcard and embedded software and ASIC design in the domain of Smartcards. We have a track record of having developed several generations of Smartcard reader ASICs and the Reader systems for one of the leading brands in the Smartcard reader Industry.

SCOLIS Technologies has its development centre located in Chennai , India , and works with Sales/ Marketing partners in the USA , Europe & Asia.

The Management Team  
The Management Team consists of a core group that moved from SCM Microsystems India, to set up SCOLIS -

Victor Jayakaran – President & Managing Director.
D. Balasubramanian – Manager VLSI Design.

Victor Jayakaran was with SCM as Head of India Operations and also the VP Engineering for SCM’s Worldwide operation before leaving SCM in August 2006. Prior to Joining SCM, he worked with Wipro Technologies from its early days in 1979, as its first employee in the Computer business division till 2000, when he was the VP Engineering of Wipro’s Start up venture EnThink in the domain of Silicon IP. Victor is a Post Graduate in Computer Science, from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore India.

Balasubramanian (Balu) is the Engineering Manager heading ASIC and hardware design. Before joining SCOLIS, he worked as the VLSI Design Manager of SCM Microsystems ( India ). He was the architect of almost all of SCM’s ASICs in the Digital media and Smartcard Reader domains. He has designed close to 35 ASICs during his stint with SCM and earlier Shuttle Technology, India, many of which have been part of Shuttle and SCM high volume product lines. Balu is a Post graduate in Electronics Engg from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, India.

The SCOLIS team has a track record of designing and delivering worldwide high performance Smartcard Readers, with a whole range of skills from architecting the chip to the building of the operating firmware and the development of drivers interfacing with host systems. The team has in-depth skills and knowledge in the area of embedded software and real time kernels and drivers interfacing smartcards readers and terminals with PCs and other embedded devices running a variety of Operating systems ranging from the various versions of Windows, to WinCE and flavors of Linux.
